Alton Lee (he/him) is the Green Academy Coordinator and science teacher at Woodside High School. In his 18 years as a classroom teacher, he has also worked at Mission High School in San Francisco and Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose. Alton became an “accidental” environmental educator about 12 years ago when he was tasked with teaching a class for students recovering credits for biology or chemistry. Since then, he has taught various environmental science classes, including classes on sustainable design and water issues in California and beyond.  As coordinator of the Green Academy at Woodside High School, Alton collaborates with eight teachers across four different disciplines, serving about 80 students across three grade levels. Over the course of three years, students in the Green Acadeemy are exposed to a myriad of topics that span from sustainable agricultural practices, to water diversion in California, to green building practices.  Alton earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and molecular/cell biology, as well as his master’s degree in science education, at UC Berkeley.
